Cocos Island, an extremely remote & lush island located 342 miles (550km) off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, is consistently named one of the top 3 diving destinations in the world. This heavily protected National Park & UNESCO World Heritage Site was called, “the most beautiful island in the world” by Jacques Cousteau. Let that sink in for a moment. The human famed for exploring the worlds oceans named this the most beautiful island on earth. Picture schools of hammerhead sharks numbering in the hundreds, parading by as if you had front row seats to a choreographed show. And no, not at just 1 dive site, but common at almost every site on the island. Now sprinkle in massive tiger sharks, white tip sharks, Galapagos Sharks, whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins, eagle rays, yellowfin tuna, sailfish, gigantic schools of fish and the list goes one. This is Cocos Island.

Cocos, or Isla de Coco in Spanish, sits at a perfect meeting point of multiple deep ocean currents bringing plenty of food and huge pelagic animals to the island. This mixed with its unique lush tropical forests creates a unique ecological character that is not shared with any other eastern pacific islands – including the famed Galapagos Islands. Cocos is extremely unique both above and below the water. And to top it all off, the island is steeped in pirate lore, including $350 billion dollars worth of Spanish gold that is still buried on the island waiting to be discovered. Endless sharks and pelagic megafauna, lush forests, giant waterfalls, and stories of buried pirate treasure. Now that sounds like a proper ninja adventure.

Join Dive Ninjas as we team up with our friends at Girls That Scuba and Shark Scientist Marta Cambra Agustí on August 26-September 5, 2021 for a very special Shark Conservation Ninjas Expedition to this incredible island. This is a limited offer trip with 22 spaces available.   Everyone is welcome to join, both male and female divers. We recommend that you act fast as this trip will sell out quick.  Scroll down for more details on the trip,  then register online now to secure your space.  Feel free to contact us at [email protected] or +1-973-619-9976 with any questions or to reserve your space today.

Special Expedition Features

Cocos is one of those once in a lifetime, dream diving destinations so we want to make this trip extra special for you. We’ve invited one of Costa Rica’s top shark scientists, Marta Cambra Augusti. Her current research is centered on working with the Costa Rican government to create a set of protocols for shark & ray tourism and research to be put into place in all of the Marine Protected Areas in the country. We can’t think of a better way to explore an area than with one of the leading shark researchers actively working in Cocos Island. Marta will be giving presentations,  as well as holding workshops & discussions throughout the trip to teach us all about the sharks and rays that call this incredible island home. She’ll also be deploying BRUV’s (Baited Remote Underwater Videocameras) so we can get an exclusive look at what the sharks get up to when we aren’t in the water.

To kick off the week Marta and Dive Ninjas very own ocean warrior, Jay Clue, will run a free Shark & Ray Conservation course sponsored by Project AWARE. Everyone on board will receive a Project AWARE Shark & Ray Conservation Diver certification compliments of Dive Ninja Expeditions. Dive Ninjas will also be making a donation on your behalf to Project AWARE to help further their shark conservation efforts.

We’ll also take a trip on to the island to meet the park rangers working tirelessly to protect this unique area. Then take a walk through the lush tropical forests to go swimming in one of the islands beautiful waterfalls. While on land we’ll look out for some of the islands hundreds of endemic flora and fauna.

Back on the boat we’ll run a special game and raffle to help raise money to donate to the Cocos Island Park Rangers to help them in their fight to protect the sharks that call these beautiful waters home. This your chance to win cash and other great prizes from Dive Ninjas, Girls That Scuba, and Aggressor Liveaboards while helping out an incredibly great cause. We’ll also hold the infamous Dive Ninjas Crap Photo contest at the end of the week, so get ready for some craptastic prizes! Plus Jay Clue & Sarah will be giving a special ‘Pirates & Buried Treasure of Cocos Island’ talk during the trip – so don’t forget your eye patches!

Last but certainly not least, Dive Ninja Expeditions & Girls That Scuba will be donating a portion of your ticket price to help further the protection and research of the sharks & rays in this unique area.
