Great hammerhead scuba diving in Bimini

Trip Itinerary

Bimini Shark Lab

We’ll kick off the trip spending a couple of days visiting our friends at Bimini Shark Lab, one of the world’s most renowned and longest-running shark research centers. Their team of shark scientists will teach us about shark science, the incredible research they’ve been working on, and of course, all about Great hammerheads!

But we’re not just hanging out in the lab; they’re also going to take us to see some of their epic secret spots. We might even get to spot some very tiny baby lemon sharks cruising around the mangroves!

Great Hammerhead & Sharks encounter !

Then, as we say goodbye to our new friends at Shark Lab, we’ll get ready for three days of back-to-back great hammerhead diving!

We’re talking up close encounters with massive great hammerheads! Plus, chances to see tiger sharks, bull sharks, nurse sharks, and so much more!

One morning, we’ll also head out a little early to visit a special spot to dive with tons of reef sharks and stop by a famous wreck to look for turtles. And another day we’ll have the opportunity to jump in the cage to see the big bull sharks that call the marina home. And make sure to keep yours peeled because quite often we’ll also spot the rare Atlantic sharpnose shark and oceanic black tip sharks as well!

Flights & Logististics

Accommodation

For this scuba diving trip in Bimini, we will be land-based, staying at the Bimini Big Game Club Hotel & Resort.

6 nights on a shared double occupancy basis – Private Room Upgrade Available !

It’s only a few steps to the dive center, and it has a restaurant right on the water to take in the sunset at the end of the day. Plus, there are beautiful beaches just a short walk away.

Flying in

Flying is the easiest/quickest way to the island.

Flights from Ft Lauderdale take roughly 20 minutes. There are 2 airports in Bimini. Either is easily accessible from our resort.

Tropic Ocean Airways offers daily flights to North Bimini from Ft Lauderdale. There is also another airline that will begin operating from Ft Lauderdale to South Bimini. There are also flights to Bimini from Nassau and other islands if you prefer.

To make things easier, we are going to be chartering a private seaplane with Tropic from Ft Lauderdale to the island at a discounted rate. The plane has room for 8 guests, so if you’re interested in joining the charter flight, please let us know.

Taking the Ferry

You can also take a ferry from Port Everglades, Ft Lauderdale to Bimini.

The ferry, called Balearia Caribbean, is a comfy air-conditioned high-speed ferry that takes about 2 hours to cross.
