What’s The Cost?
This is a very special limited offer series of more exclusive mobula ray expeditions. There are only a few of these special expeditions and each expedition is 8 days long with a maximum capacity of 6 guests. The 8 day expedition package price is $3900 USD per person and are double occupancy.
What’s Included
The trip price includes all in-water activities, presentations throughout the week, transfers from Dive Ninjas HQ to our beachfront accommodation, 7 nights double occupancy accommodation with king or Queen size bed, air conditioning, wifi, kitchen, & private bathroom, 3 delicious meals per day-breakfast, lunch, & dinner prepared by our private chef, snacks, & soft drinks onboard the boat, use of kayaks & paddle boards, reusable water bottle, and all marine park fees.
What’s Not Included
The price does not include flights, transfers from/to airport to/from Dive Ninjas HQ, rental equipment, Crew Gratuity (10%-15% of trip price is customary but is at your discretion), or any credit card processing fees.
Anything Else?
Please note that this expedition is not scuba diving based. All the action takes place at the surface so there is no need for scuba equipment. Orcas hunt Mobula Rays using a form of bubble netting so the rays do not like bubbles. The bubbles created by scuba equipment tend to make the schools disperse quickly. Additionally, to better preserve the natural behaviors of these animals it is best done as a soft interaction without bubbles and heavy scuba equipment. You do not need to be scuba certified or freediving certified to join these expeditions, but you do need to be comfortable swimming in the open ocean where you can not see the bottom. If you’d like to gain some experience with freediving or perfect your technique beforehand we recommend taking a freediving course or workshop in Cabo San Lucas the days before the trip with one of our ninja freediving instructors.
The Expedition
Prepare for front row seats to your own wildlife documentary. Our special mobula ray migration expeditions put you right in the heart of the action with these amazing creatures. Our expeditions will begin in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico at the Dive Ninja Expeditions HQ. After check-in you’ll be transferred in our air conditioned transport van to your accommodation in a place so special we can only call it our ‘secret ninja spot’. Jay Clue and Team Ninja have spent endless amounts of time scouting and exploring the length of Baja to find the best place to experience these gigantic schools. Now it’s your chance to see it with your own eyes, so get ready for the experience of a lifetime.
Your home for the week is a picturesque private beachfront property with spectacular views and all the comforts of home— Air conditioning, WiFi, American satellite TV, patios with lounge chairs & hammocks to unwind while taking in the ocean breeze, and so much more. The gorgeous Sea of Cortez is only a few steps across a white sand beach from your door. And best of all it’s located on the edge of a small fishing town, far away from the hoards of tourists and big cities creating a unique experience to really enjoy the natural beauty of Baja. Once everyone is settled in we’ll meet for our first presentations then indulge on our first chef prepared dinner of the trip. The next morning as the warm sun rises over Jacques Cousteau Island, we’ll head out for our first in-water experience. After 6 or 7 hours of action exploring the area we’ll come back for lunch. Then the next days we’ll be back at it again and again for the rest of the expedition. On the final day of the trip we’ll head back to the Ninja HQ in Cabo San Lucas after breakfast.
While out on the ocean we’ll also be looking for sea lions, giant devil rays, whales, mantas, pods of dolphins, and many more incredible inhabitants that call these waters home. The days will be pretty full on as we search for different schools discovering this incredible natural spectacle. Our captains for this trip are ex local fisherman that have converted to working purely in marine research and eco-tourism. These ninjas are living proof of the amazing things eco-tourism can accomplish. They have grown an unrivaled passion for the ocean and know the waters around this area unlike any other. Each trip will have an expert Team Ninja guide working alongside our special guests to teach you about this breathtaking area in the beautiful Sea of Cortez and keeping everyone safe and enjoying themselves. We’ll spend each of the ocean days swimming, snorkeling, & freediving while out searching for different schools and all the wonders this special area offers.
Flights & Pre-Trip Activities Information
Our meeting point for this expedition is at Dive Ninja Expeditions HQ in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The nearest airport is Los Cabos International Airport (airport code SJD). Los Cabos International is also known as San Jose del Cabo International Airport by some airlines. Guests will meet at the Dive Ninjas office and be transferred to our accommodation and base camp about 2 hours north of Cabo. Our reservations team can help set up a transfer from the airport to the Dive Ninja HQ for you. Los Cabos airport is serviced daily with domestic & international flights. We recommend arriving a day early to give you some time to relax and a little padding in case of any travel delays. Easy direct flights can be found from many cities in the US and Mexico. From the US flights are quite cheap – especially from the west coast and southwest US. From Europe flights are very affordable and usually include a layover in the southwest US or Mexico City. If transiting through the US please check in advance to see if you will need a US transit visa.
Since you will be visiting us at our home in Baja California there are numerous options to add on local diving and activities in Los Cabos and the surrounding areas before and after your expedition. Another great option would be to take a freediving course in Los Cabos prior to the trip so that you can get even more out of the experience with the mobulas. Give us a shout and we can set up add-on packages to extend your trip to Baja.
