The Land of Dragons Komodo Liveaboard Expedition
Join us May 19-26, 2019 as Team Ninja links up with pro photographer Simon Lorenz & Insider Divers to explore the land of dragons – Komodo National Park. Known to divers as the Galapagos of the Coral Triangle, here, almost anything is possible. Giant manta rays, shark infested drift dives, jaw dropping macro & muck critters, and of course, the infamous Komodo Dragon – the largest lizard on earth. Get ready for a week of reef dives, drift dives, cleaning stations, and macro night dives, all in one spectacular place.
Our Dive Ninja & Insider Divers expedition will take you along some of the most sought after spots in Komodo, plus a few special secret spots. Aside from the famous sites in the North like Castle and Crystal rock, weather permitting we will also dive the south at Cannibal rock and the famous Manta Alley, usually difficult to reach in Summer. There will be a land excursion to see the Komodo Dragons as well as some small hikes to catch some of the amazing views in this incredible region.

The Ship
For this incredible experience we have chartered the Amira liveaboard. The Amira was built by divers, for divers. Not only is she gorgeous, she is equipped with a state of the art navigation system, security & rescue equipment and technologies. With a length of 52 meters Amira offers 9 comfortable double cabins and lots of space. All rooms are equipped with personal showers, toilets, and natural lighting. There is a cozy restaurant, a romantic lounge area, and a big sun deck to catch some of this Indonesian sun rays. Her dive deck is designed with a generous amount of space, as well as individual stations for each diver, several rinse tanks, plenty of surface space, and even a large camera room. All in all an ideal base camp for the most beautiful dive excursions in Komodo.
Check out the boat in this video or this virtual tour.
Free Extras
Every body loves a little something extra, right? So to make this trip extra special throughout the week we will be offering presentations on the local marine life and region, photography sessions, and talks on conservation. Plus, during the trip there will be free photography training & tips with Simon Lorenz; including wide-angle photography sessions, as well as mini Lightroom and Photoshop workshops. If you need help with photo equipment in advance of the trip, Simon can help you with that as well. Dive Ninjas very own Jay Clue will also be sharing information on Team Ninja’s current work in marine conservation, exploration, and the local flora & fauna of Mexico’s famed Baja California Peninsula.

The trip price of $2,450 USD includes all diving & activities, presentations throughout the week, 7 nights accommodation on a shared double stateroom basis, 3 delicious meals per day plus snacks, coffee, juices, & tea, National Park fees, and group transport to the ship.

Should this occur, all guests will be notified prior to boarding. If there are a major increase in local taxes you will be notified by Dive Ninjas within 24 hours of us receiving the information. We will try our best to offset these costs but in the very rare occasion we may need to pass the extra tax per guest.
Flight & Pre-Trip Activities Information
You can book your own flights to Labuanbajo to arrive in the morning of 19th May – before noon. Last call for boarding is at 12pm. Better and safer is to arrive on May 18th and spend the night at a local hotel. Earliest departure on May 26th is in the morning, however it is highly recommended to book your return flight for the late afternoon to be able to make the most of the diving on the 25th. There is a strict 24h no-fly surface interval on the ship.
But, in true Dive Ninja fashion, we are planning some add-on days before and after the trip. Our close friend and colleague, Aitor from Azul Unlimited is opening a new shop in Labuan Bajo so we are planning to do a few days of diving before the trip with him. For after the trip we are also looking at a potential mini-trip to Bali to explore the USS Liberty wreck or a stop over in the macro diving capital of the world – Lembeh, Indonesia. For more information on these please contact us.
